Site-selective modification of natural proteins is a major challenge of synthetic method development. This talk will focus on recent efforts to design transition-metal-catalyzed methods that allow sequence- or structure-selective reactivity in a complex polyfunctional environment. Applications and mechanistic considerations will be discussed.
