Oxygen electrocatalysts involves oxygen reduction (ORR) and evolution (OER) reactions, which are critical for various electrochemical technologies, such as metal-air batteries and fuel cells. Noble metals such as Platinum and Ruthenium/Iridium are commonly used in the ORR and OER process, respectively. However, their high cost, scarcity and low stability limit the large-scale implementation. Herein, we develop a novel bimetallic Fe/Co-coordinated polymer for the synthesis of non-precious FeCo/N-C electrocatalyst for efficient oxygen reactions. The key of our success lies in in-situ coupling Fe and Co active sites in one fashion. With the heat-treatment and NH3-activation at 1000 oC, the obtained bimetallic FeCo-N/C catalyst exhibits excellent bifunctional performance in alkaline solutions with a higher ORR half-wave potential than that of commercial Pt/C (20%). Simultaneously, lower OER overpotential than that on RuO2 at a current density of 10.0 mA cm-2 was obtained. The overall oxygen electrode activity was calculated to be as low as 0.74 V. The presented strategy may open up new possibilities for the fabrication of novel non-precious bifunctional electrocatalysts.
