SERS as a sensing platform is well establish, finding application in a diverse set of fields from in vivo imaging to trace analyte detection.  In this talk I present recent work to extend the application of SERS-based schemes to higher-order spectroscopies such as hyper-Raman scattering and also address the issue of surface modification, which plays a central role in the success of surface-enhanced spectroscopy.
