A new chiral dirhodium(II) paddlewheel complex has been designed and synthesized from α,α-dimethyl substituted biscarboxylate ligands based on BINOL. The complex has been used in enantioselective carbene/alkyne cascade reactions. The result showed successful catalytic activities in terms of yield when compared to the most effective achiral catalyst for the cascade reaction, Rh<sub>2</sub>(esp)<sub>2</sub>. The enantioselectivity for aldehyde-derived hydrazone substrates gave products in up to 96% ee.
