Graphene has emerged as an interesting species because of its drug delivery potential. It is useful in drug delivery because it is water soluble and biocompatible. In our research, graphene was modified to synthesize nanoscale graphene oxide (GO) with biocompatible polyethylene glycol (PEG) to produce a stable, water-soluble recipient GO-PEG. GO-PEG is effective in delivering cancer drugs and shows promising success in the application of their versatility in biological systems. The goal of this experiment was to use GO to deliver insoluble tetracycline (TET) into antibiotic-resistant <i>Escherichia coli</i> colonies, and prevent proliferation. The ability of the GO-PEG TET to prevent proliferation of the sensitive and resistant strains was tested using a series of incubations, and was measured using spectrophotometry. We were able to confirm the success of the synthesis of GO-PEG with tetracycline by adsorption and saw inhibition in both the non-resistant and resistant strains of <i>E. coli</i>.
