Developing reactions for selective C–H functionalization of methane remains a challenge. In particular, C–H bonds in solvents or larger hydrocarbons are more easily functionalized due to the relative inertness of methane C–H bonds. Borylation is largely controlled by steric considerations and previous studies have relied on the use of secondary hydrocarbons like cyclohexane to prevent significant solvent borylation. This study focuses on the modification of rhodium cyclopentadienyl catalysts to shift the selectivity of methane versus hydrocarbon C–H borylation. By systematically evaluating different cyclopentadienyl ligands, we are able to observe a shift in selectivity between the borylation of methane and solvents like <i>n</i>-hexane, and borylation of methane and other hydrocarbons like ethane. Additionally, these catalysts were evaluated for site-selective arene C–H borylation.<br/>
