<br/>Nanogels are used in capillary electrophoresis to achieve distinct separation selectivity under different conditions.  These separation mechanisms include size-based sieving, affinity binding, hydrophobicity, and separations based on hydrodynamic volume.  In addition to tunable selectivity, nanogels are cost effective, biocompatible, maintain protein activity, and reduce nonspecific adsorption.  The nanogel viscosity is thermally switchable, which allows nanogels to be easily introduced into the separation capillary, held in place as a gel in-capillary, applied to the separation, expelled and replaced.   <br/>
