Glycine (Gly) is the simplest amino acid (AA) among all known AAs. Because Glycine is a neurotransmitter as well as Copper(II) (Cu2+) is found in neurological fluids, we propose that Cu2+ and Glycine would interact in aqueous solutions, but we didn’t know how. One of the aims of this work is to identify the complex(as) formed between Cu2+ and Glycine under ambient conditions. Potentiometric titrations and spectroscopic measurements were used to address this hypothesis. It appeared that the one to one complex (which was identified in literature) along with other Copper/Glycine complexes were formed. Both the UV-Vis Spectroscopy and IR Spectroscopy were utilized and confirmed that the formed complexes are robust and did not change its UV-Vis spectra even after a day of equilibrium time or even after (1440 minutes).
