In an increasingly competitive and global job market, critical thinking and communication skills are more important than ever before. Employers seek well-rounded candidates that not only have the technical expertise but also the ability to adapt to changing work environments and innovate within the chemical enterprise. ACS on Campus, ACS’ flagship outreach program, was developed and launched in 2010 to meet these professional development needs by bringing leaders in chemistry, publishing, research, science communication, and career development to university campuses for seminars and workshops. Since its founding, ACS on Campus has hosted programming at hundreds of institutions around the world and contributed to the professional development of thousands of students and emerging researchers. In 2016 alone, ACS on Campus hosted 27 programs across 11 countries and engaged 3,200 students. This presentation will discuss how ACS on Campus effectively engages with the larger research community through its partnerships with universities and libraries and will share its measurable, strategic successes and lessons-learned over its 6 years of operation.
