A series of dense nano-composite membranes based on poly methoxy ethoxy ethanol phosphazene (MEEP) were prepared in flat sheet configurations over a porous support. The films were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetry (TG), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The membrane performance of the films was then assessed for mixtures of CO2 and N2. The effects of temperature and humidity on performance was also examined. The addition of surface modified nanoparticles to the films was found to enhance both selectivity and permeability for CO2/N2 separation. We will present details of the fabrication, characterization and performance assessment of the materials. The phenomenon underlying improvement with the addition of nanoparticles will also be discussed.
