This study reports on the determination of toxic and essential elements in baby formulas. Baby formulas from local and international sources were analyzed for lead, copper, and manganese using flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (FAAS) and graphite furnace atomic absorption spectroscopy (GFAAS). The baby formula samples were first ashed in a muffle furnace, followed by treatment with high purity nitric acid. The methodology uses the multiple increment standard addition technique. Sample preparation was conducted in a class 100 clean room laboratory. The data on the levels of copper, manganese, and lead in baby formula will be presented and discussed.
