Kola nut can be found in West African countries, including Nigeria and Ghana. There are two different kinds of kola nut, including bitter kola (garcinia kola) and kola nut (cola acuminate). It is commonly used in West Africa to flavor drinks, reduce eye pressure (glaucoma) and to improve lung functions. Investigation was done in our lab by analyzing the milligrams of the caffeine in those two different species and comparing them to the caffeine content in tea and coffee used in United States of America.
