Higher education provides new information to our students, teaches them how to use it and how, once applied, it can benefit them and their community. The objective of this project was to integrate a leadership-related activity benefiting my students and our local rural community in Union, SC. I organized a free chemistry event on campus. My students researched hands-on scientific experiments, located needed supplies, practiced their experiments in the laboratory, prepared a poster, set up a booth the day of the event to present them to local elementary and home-school students, managed and supervised small groups of students to teach them how to perform their experiment. This was great for our community as it exposed young students to science, and it also helped my students graduate with leadership distinction.<br/>
