A strategy for integrating coursework for a science elective and a humanities elective at a small, private institution was developed over the last several years. The humanities elective was a science fiction course and the science elective was a course on nanotechnology. The integrated coursework was built upon a common outcome, students’ understanding of the societal impacts of new technologies. The goal was that the integrated coursework assignment would broaden and strengthen the students’ experiences and mastery of course outcomes. Quantitative pre- and post- survey data along with course outcome data were collected over a two-year period. Also, qualitative data were collected through reflective student writing and teaching evaluations. Collected qualitative and quantitative data will be discussed as a measurement of the hypothesis that students would have a greater mastery over the content when exposed to the integrated coursework as compared to the control group.  Although faculty teaching these courses believe in the value of the integrated assignment, collecting data to demonstrate the value in terms of student-learning can be challenging.<br/>
