Precision biomacromolecules are prepared via replicating complex hierarchical structures in nature. Achieving the defined heterogeneities (such as size, composition, functionality, topology, sequence and other primary structures) in synthetic macromolecules at length scales ranging from sub-nanometers to micrometers remains to be a grand challenge. In this report, we introduce a “nanoatom”-based strategy to prepare a library of nanoparticle chains (giant molecules). These giant molecules with controlled heterogeneities are obtained by accurate arrangement of precisely functionalized T<sub>8</sub> polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanecages (POSS) nanoparticles. The chemical structure in terms of composition and sequence are precisely controlled. Furthermore, these giant molecules can self-assemble into different supramolecular structures in the solid state including lamellar (Lam), double gyroids (DG), hexagonal (Hex), body center cubic (BCC), Frank-Kasper A15, σ phase and dodecagonal quasicrystal (DQC). It has been recognized that not only the composition but also the sequence can mandate the molecular topology and direct the hierarchal self-assembly processes to direct different supralattice structures. This strategy offers a promising opportunity to manipulate and control the hierarchical structures of macromolecules via precise and modular assemblies of various nano-building blocks.<br/>
