We have developed a climate literacy education model for K through Lifelong learners that can be applied across different content areas. Our place-based learning model relates climate change topics within the context of a “place” on our planet with a real impact on our global society. This presentation will focus on tools for the lifelong learner and includes an up-to-date “top ten” list of climate change data sets followed by activities designed to provide context to the most important aspects of climate change impacts. Students, educators, and civil society need to understand the data, trends, consequences, opportunities, and necessary steps to mitigate and adapt to climate change. The activities will engage individuals as they evaluate resources, make a claim, and then analyze the evidence to support their reasoning. Our goal is to supply tools and a knowledge base for the audience to engage in informed discussions concerning climate change.
