Analytical Chemistry has a significant role in the research conducted at the Office of Research in the Center for Veterinary Medicine.  Within the office, Division of Residue chemistry (DRC) is in charge of developing, validating novel analytical methods for the detection of veterinary drug residues in animal feeds and animal derived human food products. DRC also provides analytical support in multidisciplinary studies such as pharmacokinetic studies. As much of the science is used to support regulatory decisions, it is imperative that the methods developed be reliable, rigorously validated, and transferable. Additionally, methods need to incorporate cutting edge science and while also ensuring that the needed technology is available in FDA field laboratories.  In the talk, several examples of research projects conducting at DRC will be presented
