The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of acid mine drainage precipitate from Dalseong closed metal mine and conducted to confirm the possibility of the adsorbent. The precipitates that collected from stream bottom in Dalseong mine are composed of schwertmannite with spheroids of 0.5-3 um, and goethite with aggregates of long particles of 0.1-0.2um in size. The precipitate from mine water at pH 7.0 in laboratory consist of spherical particles of 0.1-0.2um in size. The precipitate at pH 12.0 composed of spherical form in a flat surface with 0.01-0.03 um in size. As a result of the adsorption experiment, adsorption rate of arsenic, cadmium and copper in the precipitate from stream bottom of Dalseong mine was more than 70, 25 and 10%, respectively. Adsorption rate of precipitates that collected mine water adjusted at pH 7.0 show high in arsenic and low in copper and cadmium. The precipitates collected mine water at pH 12.0 were adsorbed more than 90 % regardless of heavy metal type and concentration of aqueous solution. Copper and arsenic that adsorbed in precipitates from Dalseong mine were re-dissolved from 15 to 40 %. The precipitate at pH 12.0 showed low re-dissolution of cadmium and copper less than 0.1 % regardless of the concentration of aqueous heavy metals, the precipitate at pH 7.0 showed less than 0.1% re-elution of cadmium and copper only at 1 ppm. When considering the amount of re-elution, precipitates at pH 12.0 using acid mine drainage form Dalseong mine could be used to selectively adsorb and remove cadmium and copper from solutions contaminated with various heavy metals.<br/>
