In this study，we describe the synthesis of a series of mixed [3 : 5] hetero-arm star polymers whose arms are precisely arranged on a cubic scaffold of T<sub>8</sub> polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS). The synthesis begins with regio-isomeric Janus POSS compounds with three hydroxyl and five vinyl pendant groups. The three hydroxyl groups were first convert to alkyne group using Steglich esterification and then three azide functionalized polystyrene (PS) chains are “grafting” on to the POSS using CuAAC click reaction. Then the vinyls are converted to azides for subsequent “grafting” of six polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) arms onto POSS. The configuration of the final star polymers was thoroughly characterized by NMR, FT-IR, SEC, and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. SAXS study of the PS 3K and PDMS 5k sample shows a hexagon structure with a clear POSS interface and a T<sub>odt</sub> at about 90 degree.
