A novel pentaethylenehexamine (PEHA) modified hollow mesoporous silica (HMS) adsorbent is synthesized by template method combined with impregnation method. The as-prepared samples are characterized and the effects of support, amine loading, adsorption temperature, and humidity on CO2 adsorption properties of the resultant hybrid materials are investigated in a fixed bed reactor. Due to the specific properties of hollow structure, the sorbent S-70 shows a high adsorption capacity (4.87 mmol g-1 at 75°C and 0.15 atm CO2), fast adsorption kinetics and good stability after ten cycles of consecutive adsorption-desorption, which could be used as a promising candidate for CO2 capture from simulated flue gas. The adsorbents are moisture tolerable and the corresponding CO2 adsorption capacities increase significantly in the presence of moisture.
