Efficient Copper modified Layered Double Hydroxide catalysts have been successfully prepared for the multicomponent mannich reactions. The stable and porous LDH nanocompositeswas modified with synthesized and employed as ultrasonic-assisted dispersive micro-solid phase extraction sorbent method. The obtained n(Cu):n(Mg):n(Al) = 2:1:1 Cu-LDH catalyst exhibited high activity for the multicomponent mannich reaction, providing the syn β-amino ester product in 80% yield and 3:1 diastereoselectivity. The Mannich product can be easily trapped in situ by other nucleophiles and the reaction was rendered asymmetric by using the (-)-phenylmenthol ester in good yield and selectivites.
