Allylic ethers and esters are found broadly in many natural products and are used in key steps in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and natural products. Here we report a general intermolecular allylic C–H oxygenation of internal olefins utilizing [RhCp*Cl<sub>2</sub>]<sub>2</sub> as the precatalyst. A wide range of primary and secondary alcohols as well as carboxylic acids are tolerated in this reaction, with products obtained in yields ranging from 44-87%.
