The direct catalytic C–H amination of arenes represents a powerful approach for the construction of aryl C–N bonds that are abundant in pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and materials chemistry. While several methods have been developed allowing arene C–H amination, the use of aliphatic amines as coupling partners is limited.<br/><br/>Using organic photoredox catalysis, we have developed a method for the direct C–H amination of arenes using primary amines that are not pre-oxidized. This methodology is compatible with a wide range of primary amines and bioactive aromatics, and is demonstrated to be scalable using a flow cell.
