Polybenzoxazole is a kind of high-temperature-resistant resin and can be a good matrix for fiber reinforced composite. However, few paper reports polybenzoxazole composite due to the difficulties in process of synthesizing and molding polybenzoxazole. To overcome the problem, we reported a precursor, amide-co-imide functional benzoxazine, abbreviated as oAI-a, to prepare carbon fiber reinforced polybenzoxazole composite. <sup>1</sup>H NMR and FT-IR were used to confirm the molecular structures. According to DSC and DMA results, the char yield of poly (oAI-a) and the Tg of carbon fiber reinforced poly (oAI-a) composite are 60.5% (at 800°C) and 190°C respectively. For polybenzoxazole, the char yield increases to 67.5% (at 800°C). The Tg of the carbon fiber reinforced polybenzoxazole composite increases to 435°C. Besides, the storage modulus almost keeps stable until 350°C. These properties are really outstanding in resin matrix composites field.
