Polybenzoxazines have demonstrated attractive properties, such as low water absorption, low dielectric constant, and good thermal stability. Polybenzoxazines have attracted increasing attention in the field of metal corrosion protection in the last few years. Herein, we prepared a diamine-based polybenzoxazine (PpC-mda) anti-corrosive coating by a spray coating and thermal curing method. The thermal curing behavior of PpC-mda was studied by differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). The corrosion resistance properties of PpC-mda coating were investigated by electrochemical measurements and compared with the epoxy coating. The results revealed that the hydrophobic PpC-mda coating exhibited better corrosion resistance than the epoxy coating. The corrosion current of PpC-mda coating increased by about three orders of magnitude compared with bare mild steel, and the protection efficiency was 99.93%.
