For two years, a committee convened by the Board on Science Education (BOSE) of the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) has been working on a consensus report on indicators to be used for monitoring undergraduate STEM education on a national scale.  A preliminary report was released in October of 2016 to gather public input of the first phase of the work.  The final report has only recently been released to the public.  This presentation will present the perspective from a member of the committee regarding the charge to the committee, the process by which the committee carried out its work, and an overview of the report conclusions.
