Several fluorescent compounds and solvents were analyzed against a known standard, and 9,10-diphenylanthracene (DPA). Optimum excitation and emission wavelength ranges were selected based on UV/VIS spectra. Relative quantum yield values were calculated and compared to previously published data. In general, less than 20% error was determined relative to published values. The goal of this project was to select a suitable sample and solvent set for development of a new undergraduate level analytical chemistry experiment.
