The New Implementations of Massive Blended Learning (NIMBLe) Chemistry project has been engaged in designing, implementing, and assessing blended learning (flipped classroom) activities for the general chemistry and organic chemistry undergraduate course sequences. The primary aim has been to create learning materials that will improve student learning outcomes and engagement in these large gateway courses, and ultimately improve the retention of students in STEM fields. The implementation of blended learning modules in large enrollment general chemistry and organic chemistry classes will be described, and effective practices for designing pre-lecture activities and facilitating in-class active learning exercises will be emphasized. Results from a quasi-experimental study that compared student performance between a course incorporating blended learning and a non-blended course, preliminary results from a randomized controlled study of blended learning environments, and plans to disseminate blended learning materials via Project ChemABLE (ABLE = Active and Blended LEarning) will also be described.   <br/>
