Yes there is an App for that! Turnitin is well known for its capability to detect plagiarism, but that is only a minor component of the full suite of features that I have put to use to increase efficiency of grading and to increase the quality of feedback to students. The Turnitin App allows you to download all of the papers onto your iPad, and then you can grade anywhere. Rubrics speed up grading and improve consistency. They also force the rubric designer to fully consider the expected learning goals and outcomes. Do you find yourself making the same comment on almost every paper? Turnitin has both pre-written comments and you can write and then save your own short comments. You can then use either as needed on any paper. Also, you can leave longer individual comments for each paper and this can be done in writing or by recording an audio message. We can further encourage students to learn more and write better with short personalized audio messages. The Turnitin App allows for more feed back, more consistency and greatly enhanced efficiency. This allows you spend less time grading so you can assign more writing to improve their learning.
