The Spelman College Chapter of Chemistry Club strives to uphold all the principles of The American Chemical Society while instilling a passion for chemistry into others. The Spelman Chapter’s mission is to display and provide the educational, scholarship and employment options available to those interested in traditional and non-traditional careers in the Chemical Sciences and STEM. During the 2017 – 2018 academic year, the chapter has successfully organized a Chemistry Careers Alumna panel, Research Seminars featuring chemists from academia and industry, and tours to nearby laboratory facilities (Emory University Labs, GaTech Labs). Additionally, the chapter is deeply involved in science outreach in the Metro Atlanta Area. These activities include conducting experiments at local K-12 schools, participating in Family Science Nights, and engaging in chemistry demonstrations at local museums and science center. As a result, the Spelman Chemistry Club now has full participation of more than 40-student members across a variety of STEM and non-STEM majors.
