Gold nanoparticles contain localized surface plasmon resonances that can be used for surface-enhancement in spectroscopic applications. Recent advances in nanotechnology feature the integration of such metal nanoparticles with different materials. We present the development of a new substrate composed of evenly dispersed gold nanoparticles throughout a solid polymer matrix. This work reports on the details of the synthesis of this new type of substrate.
