The ACS student chapter at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas organizes and participates in a variety of activities and events both on campus and within the community. St. Edward’s University is a private liberal arts institution, so we enjoy the benefits of a tightly knit community that thrives on the cooperation of faculty, staff, and students. The various activities we coordinate throughout the year include peer tutoring, guest speakers from both academia and industry, active involvement with the central Texas ACS chapter, bi-monthly meetings of the group, and fun team building exercises. Our hope is that through these activities and events, more students will become increasingly aware of the value of science in our everyday lives, as well as take the opportunity to become more involved in the community. We strongly believe that by actively engaging with both the students and the faculty of our community, the members will gain invaluable knowledge and experience that will benefit them both during their college years and in their future endeavors.
