Crystallization from solution is a commonly used separation and purification method in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry.  Purification in crystallization process is the result of the exclusion of impurities from the crystalline lattice.  In crystal-impurity systems with similar structures and the impurity has a strong tendency to incorporate into the crystal lattice, making it difficult to obtain high purity with a single crystallization or even multiple crystallizations.  A method to improve purity while maintaining yield in a crystallization process involves the use of additive which complex with the impurity but not with the target molecule.  These complexes are sterically hindered from incorporating into the crystalline lattice. <br/>This talk with present the results of impurity complexation studies and will also show how together with nanofiltration membranes, this method can be used to increase yield and purity in the crystallization of organic molecular crystals. <br/>
