A variety of bi- and tridentate amino alcohols have been prepared starting from commercially available amino acid esters. These short, high-yielding syntheses allow for rapid preparation of small libraries of both sterically and electronically differentiated ligands suitable for early metals. Starting from titanium and tantalum dimethylamide precursors, metal complexes can be prepared. The synthetic, spectroscopic, structural and catalytic activity of these complexes will be described.<br/>
