Organically templated metal oxides are a diverse class of compounds that can exhibit interesting and useful properties. Organically templated vanadium tellurites were chosen as a model system because of the known structural variety they can exhibit. To determine how the organic cation influences the overall structure and to explore the phase space around such compounds, response maps were generated wherein reactant ratios were varied across identical conditions. One of the two new compound, [C4H8N5]2[V2Te2O10] (1), was discovered and compared to two previously reported compounds, [C6H16N2]2[V2Te2O10] and [C5H14N2]2[V2Te2O10]. [C4H8N5]2[V2Te2O10] (1) achieves charge density matching by orienting its organic layer perpendicular to the inorganic layers. π–π stacking may come into play in stabilizing the arrangement of the organic layer [C4N5H8]. In addition, the non-covalent interactions (NCI) index confirms the presence of π–π stacking in between the organic cations.
