A series of Ni complexes bearing the well known iPrPNHP (Bis[(2-diisopropylphosphino]ethyl)amine) and a novel isoelectronic analogue tBuPNHNOP (2-(ditertbutylphosphinamine)6-(ditertbutylphosphinito)pyridine) will be discussed. Synthesis and characterization of (iPrPNP)Ni-X and (tBuPNNOP)Ni-X complexes, bearing anionic ligand backbones will be described and their ability to perform 1,2-addition or 1,3-addition, respectively, will be probed. The synthesis and characterization of multiple Ni-alkyl complexes bearing both ligand sets was possible through salt metathesis and their ability to perform catalysis was investigated.
