The detrimental influence of CO2 as a “green house” gas has received more and more attention, so its use as raw material for basic chemical production is an attractive subject. In this work, we reported an electrochemical route to utilize and transfer CO2 in ionic liquids at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. Different kind of amines, such as cyclohexylamine, aniline and hexylamine, were used as reactant to combine with CO2 in different ionic liquids, such as BmimNtf2 and BmpyNtf2, under different reacting time and potential on the Au electrode. After several hours of the reaction, white or yellow products were obtained, which was detected by FTIR, HPLC, LCMS and NMR. This method provides a new green route to transfer CO2 and may be of importance to the CO2 and organic industries.
