Traditionally, CMPO ligands have been utilized to chelate actinides as part of the TRUEX process for nuclear waste remediation. Previously it has been shown that CMPO groups bind to the metal in a 3:1 ratio. By combining three separate CMPO groups into one ligand framework via an organic cap, a more prearranged structure can be achieved. Varying different features of the cap can change the ligand's rigidity, polarity or solubility. Computational modeling, NMR spectroscopy, and synthetic data will be presented.
