Phosphine containing ligands derived from triazines are of particular interest given the inexpensive precursor cost and the potential for three identical binding sites. For example, a ligand with a melamine core decorated with three phosphines has been synthesized and can be imaged to bind three metals in a bi-dentate fashion. We are interested in the electronic properties of these ligands and their complexes. New design strategies and the synthesis and attempted metalation of triazine based polydentate ligands will be presented.
