Fuels are exposed to a wide variety of environments and materials throughout the supply chain. The measurement of metals in fuels is routinely accomplished through inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES). An alternative methodology is being developed, using microwave plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy (MP-AES). This paper reports the screening of a variety of fuel samples using MP-AES for additive and wear metals.
