C–H bond amination attracts much attention due to the ubiquitous presence of N-containing functionalities in common synthetic precursors, natural products, and pharmaceuticals. The most common approach for C–H bond amination involves pre-oxidation of the substrate. Such method suffers the necessity of a strong oxidant, propensity of over-oxidation, as well as relatively low chemoselectivity. To circumvent such problems, nitrene group transfer methods via metal imido species have been widely pursued. Herein, we report the synthesis and electronic structure characterization of a nickel-imido system supported by weak-field dipyrrin platform, as well as their potency of catalyzing C–H bond amination reactions featuring good to excellent yields, high efficiency and chemoselectivity.
