The IVCC Chemistry club is one of the longest running ACS Student chapters of any two-year college. Over this time, the club has remained involved in numerous aspects of community outreach, networking, campus leadership, as well as team building. This year, our goal is to be more active than ever. So far, we have already conducted four demonstration shows at area schools and science camps and have plans to continue with this sort of momentum. We have four events planned for national chemistry week including a Mol run and a large demonstration show held at a local resort. Moving forward, we plan to have at least one demo show each month, ending with our annual SciFest. There, we have numerous tables set up in a square with small and interactive demonstrations, and we conduct larger scale experiments and demonstrations in the center, away from the audience. This is our most successful show, and we can typically expect a crowd of 600-800 kids. Beyond the demo shows, we plan to extend out team building exercises by conducting weekly meetings for the club members to work on projects and grow closer as a group. We also plan to extend our community outreach by networking with local companies and aiding with projects and demonstration shows that they conduct. One example of this is the Chemical Industry Council of Illinois conference, where club members assisted Carus Corporation with their booth by presenting demonstrations to area high school students as part of the program. We intend to collaborate with Carus as well as other companies in the future to increase our connections with local industry. To culminate our year’s involvement, we intend to travel to the 255<sup>th</sup> ACS national conference in the Spring of 2018. There, our club will present a poster highlighting our accomplishments and accept our award from last year.
