Finding and cleaner method to synthesize complex functional groups has become economically viable due to the increased environmental regulations and cost of research.  N-Phenyl succinimide derivatives have been shown to be a significant anti-microbial and insecticide so they are vital to a sustainable society.  This allows for one to explore the steric and electronic variabilities of the aniline while exploring the scope of the electrophile, succinic or maleic anhydride.  Interestingly when maleic anhydride was used as the electrophile, hydration of the alkene provided hydroxysuccinimide product upon isolation.  Isolation of the product from the water and ethanol provides cheap and environmentally friendly method of purification.  All this work was done by microwave irradiation in 10 minutes versus traditional methods of heating 8-10 hours. Some of the products that were synthesized have been purified via flash column chromatography; however the products need to be characterized through H<sup>1</sup>-NMR.<br/>
