Formic acid is considered as the most potential candidate in future energy system to solve the increasing demand of energy using fossil fuel. However, hydrogen has a low volumetric energy density under atmospheric conditions, hence, compression and a storage system under high-pressure conditions are indispensable for the utilization of hydrogen energy. To circumvent those difficulties, recently, we have developed a high-pressure hydrogen generation protocol through the dehydrogenation of formic acid using Ir homogeneous catalysts. After this successful application, we explore its prospects in heterogeneous catalyst. When we apply the palladium nano-particles on a graphene oxide as a catalyst (Pd/PDA–rGO), it can effectively catalyze the decomposition of formic acid to produce high-pressure gas over 35 MPa at 80 <sup>o</sup>C without any detectable formation of CO or other by-products. The present study represents a preliminary stage of the high-pressure hydrogen generation in the presence of a heterogeneous catalysts, might have greater future in the industrial hydrogen generation.
