Over the past 25 years, isotopically-labeled molecules have been widely used as diagnostic tools in pharmaceutical drug development. Recently, the combination of photoredox and transition metal catalysis has emerged as an enabling strategy for cross-electrophile coupling. This mild yet robust protocol can be leveraged for the installation of isotopes into complex, drug-like molecules.
