The growing interest in the presence of emerging pollutants (EPs) in water bodies has put the world's population on alert about its dangerousness. EPs are contaminants consisting of drugs, pesticides, heavy metals, which come into water from industrial wastewater. That pollutants are dificult to remove using traditional water treatments, making necessary the design of alternative treatments. Therefore, the need arises to create materials that have a low cost of production, contribute to the environment and are more efficient.<br/>Cellulose fibers have a unique structure derived from their biological origin. The production of cellulose nanofibres prepared from the biomass has exceptional mechanical and thermal properties, as well as being environmentally friendly and low cost materials. These materials are used in various applications such as building materials, insulation, food, cosmetics and medicine, having found a great application as an additive in the reinforcement of recycled paper, an application that has been used in many countries. Cellulose nanofibers can be produced from forest residues and from agriculture.<br/>Cellulose nanofibres were prepared from tara gum waste using chemical and mechanical treatments in order to isolate only the cellulose and then produce the nanofibers. FT-IR and SEM studies of the sample, as well as of the cellulose and nanofibres obtained, were carried out, which allowed to determine the change of the structure from the sample to the nanofibers, obtaining to obtain sizes of 200 nm of thickness and 10 mm of length. For this, a suitable method was designed for the type of residue that would allow the nanofibres to be made using a spherical mill to obtain the nanofibers.<br/>Another of the applications given to these materials is as adsorbents, which allows to remove contaminants from the water. In comparison, adsorbents prepared from debris such as activated carbon have proved to be highly effective, as nanocululoses, which prove to be much more efficient because of their pore size. Studies have been carried out on the production of nanocellulose fibers from biomass, which were found to have exceptional mechanical strength and thermal properties, as well as being environmentally friendly and inexpensive.<br/>The removal of paracetamol in water was studied by the adsorption of cellulose nanofibers, showing an adsorption of 50 % of pollutant using 200 mg of nanofibers for about 10 minutes. Analysis was followed using an spectrometer UV-Vis.
