With a pyridine derivative containing the triphenylene liquid crystalline (LC) mesogen (PHTC6) used as the hydrogen-bonding (HB) acceptor and polydimethylsiloxane-block-poly(vinyl triphenyl diacid) (PDMS-b-PM3H) as the HB donor, a series of supramolecular LC block copolymers (SLCBCPs) were constructed through hydrogen bonding. Small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) was mainly used to study the self-assembled nanostructures. Wide-angle X-ray scattering (WAXS) was used to investigate the LC phase behaviors of the supramolecular LC blocks. Different microphase-separated nanostructures and LC structures were realized through varying the ratio of PHTC6 to PDMS-b-PM3H. The SLCBCPs can self-assemble into hexagonally packed cylinders (HEX), lamellae (LAM), and inverted HEX when the ratio is changed. Smectic phase and discotic nematic phase were observed on a smaller length scale compared with the microphase-separated nanostructures. Therefore, the SLCBCPs can self-assemble into hierarchically order structures.
