The development of a robust and compact FIA analyzer that can accurately and simultaneously elucidate the distribution of nitrate, nitrite, and ammonium in oligotrophic systems with high resolution, both temporally and spatially is presented The detection limits for ammonium, nitrite, and nitrate plus nitrite were 11, 10, and 22 nM, respectively..  A novel approach was used, focused on the adaptation of fluorescence-based chemistries to an analyzer that could be packaged for in situ analysis.  The three channel analyzer can easily be adapted to any automated chemistry with fluorescence detection.  The system has two independent electrical heaters, on-the-fly standardization, independent on-board data logging, independent 24 V DC power supply, internal local operating network (LON), a 12 channel peristaltic pump, four rotary injection/selection valves, and an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI).<br/>
