Pore translocation is an important tool to probe physico-chemical properties of DNA filaments. In a recent breakthrough experiment, this technique allowed for detecting and profiling knots that spontaneously formed in linear or circularised DNA. I will report on a study where, by using a detailed mesoscopic model, we observed an unexpectedly rich phenomenology of knotted DNA translocation and used it to advance the interpretation of experimental data.<br/>I will conclude by reporting briefly on the use of coarse-grained models for predicting self-assembling molecular constructs with complex target topologies.
