CO2 hydrogenation using H2 produced with renewable energy sources is a promising research direction to produce methanol, hydrocarbons, synthetic natural gas (methane) and chemicals. Currently uses of renewable energy sources are limited by their inherent intermittency and require scalable means of storage. Effective conversion of CO2 to fuels and chemicals with renewable energy can be achieved using H2 produced with renewable energy. At present, CO2 hydrogenation to hydrocarbons is almost catalyzed by the metal-based catalysts with the inevitable metal sintering and catalysts deactivation. Therefore, we have designed three strategies to slow down the metal-sintering and catalyst deactivation to improve the catalysts stability. First, the active metal is fixed on the support surface strongly through the metal-support interaction and the special metal-support interface, such as Co-Zr interface. Second, the active nanoparticles are sounded by the porous carbon materials to avoid the metal sintering. Third, different metal particles are separated by each other in the polymetallic fibers through eletrospinning method. These strategies can also increase the metal dispersion which improve the catalysts activity and stability simultaneously.
